New leader, old problems: is 2020 Tory victory inevitable?

Speaking at the University of East Anglia, Charles explored the possible ways forward for Labour under Corbyn’s leadership. He draws on the lessons of the 1980s and 1990s, while considering the very different context, to conclude

“Effective and credible opposition is about far more… It is about comparing what the government is doing with what we would be doing in their position, and not just by reference to some ideal but non-existent world.”

Only by successfully rising to this challenge can Labour win power again.
